Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

AreaCheck is an Irish property intelligence platform operated from the Republic of Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us about anything in it at hello@areacheck.ie.

2. What we collect

Account data: the email address you sign up with, your name if you choose to give it and your password, which is held in hashed form by our authentication provider and is never visible to us.

Usage data: the addresses you search, the reports you buy and the reports themselves, so we can show them to you again.

Payment data: payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We receive confirmation that you paid and the email address used at checkout. We never see or store your card details.

Support data: messages you send through the contact form or by email, so we can reply.

Technical data: basic server logs such as IP address and browser type, kept for security and to keep the service running.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to provide the service: to generate and deliver the reports you buy, show your saved reports, send transactional emails such as receipts and report-ready notifications, reply to your messages, keep the service secure and prevent fraud and abuse.

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not send marketing emails you have not asked for.

4. Legal bases

We process your data to perform our contract with you (delivering the service and the reports you buy), to comply with legal obligations such as tax and accounting rules, for our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving the service, and with your consent where we ask for it, which you can withdraw at any time.

5. Who processes your data for us

A small number of service providers process data on our behalf, each under a data processing agreement and only for the purpose described: Stripe processes payments. Resend delivers our transactional email. Supabase provides our database, authentication and storage. Vercel hosts the website and provides cookieless, aggregated analytics. Mapbox serves the map tiles you see on the site.

Report text is generated using an AI service provided by Anthropic. It receives the searched address and the public area data needed to write the report. It never receives your name, email address or any other account details.

6. We never sell your data

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising. Data leaves our processors only where the law requires it, for example a valid request from a public authority.

7. International transfers

Some of our processors are based outside the European Economic Area or process data there. Where that happens, transfers are protected by EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard recognised under GDPR.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is open. Purchase records are kept for as long as Irish tax and accounting law requires. When you delete your account, or ask us to, we delete your personal data except for those records we are legally required to retain.

9. Your rights

Under GDPR you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, have inaccurate data corrected, have your data deleted, receive your data in a portable format, restrict or object to certain processing and withdraw any consent you have given.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@areacheck.ie and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission, Ireland's supervisory authority, at dataprotection.ie.
